Willie Elizabeth Johnson

On Monday, October 30, 2023, at her home in Timberlake, NC, Willie Elizabeth Pettiford Johnson gained her wings and entered eternal rest. She was born on July 19, 1925, in Person County to the late Richard Irving and Myrtle Love Pettiford.

Elizabeth met and married Isaac Johnson and to this union eight children were born. At an early age, she received Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ. She was a devoted member of the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ Church in Timberlake, NC, where she served faithfully on the Evangelists and Mother Board until her decline in health. Most referred to this homemaker and seamstress as “Mother Johnson”.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac (better known as Ike) and four children, Bishop Tee Norlar Johnson, Rosilyn Elizabeth Paige, Donnie Wayne, and Rickie Craige Johnson. As well as, three sisters, Augusta P. Pulliam, Annie P. Johnson, Annie Bell Lester and five brothers, Isaac, Obie, Lewis, Squire, and Frederick Pettiford.

Those left to cherish loving memories of her life are two daughters, Arlene Drumwright (Thomas) and Veronica Satterwhite both of Timberlake, NC; two sons, William Isaac aka Red (Lois) of Thomasville, NC and Richard Hayes Johnson of Roxboro, NC. Seventeen grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren, and twelve great, great grandchildren. One sister, Mary Jane Torain, one sister-in-law, Cordelia Johnson and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The viewing will be Friday, November 3, 2023, from 1:00 - 6:00 pm at the Alan L. Lawson Mortuary Chapel at 205 Chub Lake St. Roxboro, NC. The family will be present from 5:00 – 6:00pm.

The funeral service will be Saturday, November 4, 2023, at 2:00pm at the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ Church 3843 Antioch Church Rd. Timberlake, NC. Service eulogist is Bishop Deborah Barnette Street, Pastor of the Greater Covenant Church of Jesus Christ in Roxboro, NC and service officiant is Elder Terry Scoggins, Pastor of Holy Temple of Jesus Christ Church in Timberlake, NC.

Final resting place will be in the Holy Temple of Jesus Christ Church cemetery.
