Mr. Weldon H. Stanfield, 92 of Roxboro, North Carolina, On the evening of January 5, 2023 around 11:00 p.m., Almighty God sent his angel to escort the soul of the beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and a friend, Weldon H. Stanfield from labor to eternal rest.
Weldon was born in Caswell County, North Carolina on June 20, 1930 to the late Chalmers and Buena Stanfield. He was educated in the public schools of Caswell County. After graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Army where he served his country for two years. After returning home from the Army, Weldon attended Durham Business College and received a degree.
On June 12, 1960, he was united in marriage to Mary Ernestine Lawson. To this union two daughters were born. Weldon was one of the first African Americans to become a licensed building contractor in Caswell County. During his 60 plus years in business, he built, remodeled and repaired many homes in Caswell and Person counties.
He was a life long member of the Saint James Baptist Church and served as a trustee until he was no longer able to attend due to declining health. Weldon loved people and enjoyed laughing and talking with church members and friends.
He was the youngest of his siblings, all of whom preceded him in death. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Mary E. Stanfield; daughters, Wanda Strickland (Clyde) and Deneen Flowers. Three grandchildren, Tiffany Johnson, Jessica Flowers and Joshua Flowers. Two great-grandchildren, Leah Johnson and Ava Johnson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
