Steffanie Layne Lea

Ms. Steffanie Layne Lea, age 59, a native of Roxboro, N.C. passed away from her earthly life on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham, N.C. Steffanie was born in Orange County, NC to the late Coy Dawson Lea and Reba Lois Slade. Steffanie attended Person County Schools and was a graduate of the Person Senior High School Class of 1984. Steffanie was a member of St. James Baptist Church in Leasburg, NC.  She worked in various jobs in Person County including Crown Crafts, Inc.

In addition to her parents, Steffanie was preceded in death by stillborn daughter, Chasity Patrice Lea.

She leaves to cherish her memories: a sister, Janice McNeil (John) of Roxboro, NC; two brothers, Jeffrey Lea of the home and Stacy Lea of Roxboro, NC and a special friend Isaiah “Pizza” Fuller of Roxboro, NC. Three aunts, Annie Slade and Carolyn Gomez both of Dayton, Ohio and Delores Slade. A host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

A Public Viewing will be held on Saturday, September 14th, from 1:00 – 6:00 pm at the Alan L. Lawson Mortuary Chapel at 205 Chub Lake St. Roxboro, NC 27573. 

The Funeral Service will be held Sunday, September 15th at 2:00 pm at the St. James Baptist Church,1065 Solomon Lea Rd. Leasburg, NC 27291. Family visitation from 1:30 - 2:00 pm. Rev. Haywood Smith, Pastor of St. James Baptist Church, officiating and Bishop Clevie Brandon, Pastor of Compassionate Ministries, eulogist. Burial in the St. James Baptist Church Cemetery.
