Mrs. Oveda McCain Lawson, age 85, of Ringgold, VA, peacefully departed this life on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation in Danville, VA.
Born to the late Luther and Beulah Reid McCain, she graduated from Person County High School and was a faithful member of Zion Level Missionary Baptist Church in Semora, NC. Oveda was employed by and retired from Dan River Mills in Danville, VA.
After retirement, she found joy in tending to her flowers, relaxing on her front porch, and, most of all, spending time with her beloved dog, Pepper.
In addition to her parents, Oveda was preceded in death by her husband, John Bernice (JB) Lawson, and her siblings, Herman, Isaiah, Harvey, Mann, Otis, Joseph, Ellis, Lucy M. Pulliam, Lillian M. Paylor, and Ann M. Williams Miller.
She leaves to cherish her memory her in-laws, Otelia Brandon, Willoree Perry, Dr. Queen Cannon, Anthony Lawson, and a host of nieces, nephews, and other loving family members and friends.
A public viewing will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025, at Alan L. Lawson Mortuary Chapel from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM, with the family present from 5:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
The funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 1:00 PM at Zion Level Missionary Baptist Church, 1780 Zion Level Church Rd., Semora, NC 27343. Reverend Willie O. Glenn, Pastor of Zion Level Missionary Baptist Church, will deliver the eulogy.
