Miguel Garcia Obituary

Mr. Miguel Angel Garcia, age 91, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Monday, May 19, 2025. He was born on June 26, 1933, in Puerto Rico to the late Pedro Garcia and Concepción Miranda Garcia.

In addition to his parents, Miguel was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jean Isadora Bass Garcia; his daughters, Leticia “Lulu” Garcia and Magda Garcia; and his siblings, David Garcia, Pedro “Pellin” Garcia Jr., Emerita “Tati” Garcia, and Jose “Pepo” Garcia.

Miguel received his education through the Puerto Rican school system before relocating to New York with his sister. While in New York, he owned and operated a dry-cleaning business. It was there he met the love of his life, Jean Isadora Bass. Together, they eventually settled in Roxboro, North Carolina.

In Roxboro, Miguel continued his entrepreneurial path, working in construction and at a local dry cleaner, while also owning and operating a convenience store. Though he was a man of few words—often expressing himself with a simple “GaGa” or “ahhh”—his actions spoke volumes. Always the quiet force behind his family's success, he was generous, dependable, and humble, never seeking recognition for his good deeds.

Miguel is survived by his loving children: Annette Orlando of Puerto Rico, Tracy Wilkerson (Michael), and Angelas Hunt (Stanley), both of Roxboro; and Miguel Antonio Garcia of Puerto Rico. He is also survived by his siblings: Edelmira “Mima” Mantazo and Angelina “Gila” Garcia of Florida, Victor Garcia of Oregon, and Oscar Gonzalez of Clayton. He leaves behind a legacy of love through his 18 grandchildren, 39 great-grandchildren, six great-great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and cherished friends.

Miguel Angel Garcia will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering support, and the deep love he held for his family. He lives on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Service of Remembrance will be held on Monday, May 26, 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Alan L. Lawson Mortuary Chapel, 209 Chub Lake Street Roxboro, NC 27573,
