Marian Darlene Torian

Marian Darlene Torian, affectionately known as “Tiny,” age sixty-seven of Roxboro, North Carolina, departed this life and entered eternal rest on Monday, December 8, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family. She was born on December 13, 1957, in Durham, North Carolina, to the late Christine Torian and the late Joseph Elliott.

She attended Person County Schools. Tiny enjoyed attending church with her family at Olive Hill Baptist Church. She had a heart for caring for others and was a devoted UNC Tar Heels Men’s Basketball fan.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ernestine Torian “Pewee” and Merian Denise Torian “Hog”, and her brother, John Thomas Torain “Bob”.

She leaves to cherish her precious memories two nephews who were like her sons: Tracy Torain of Greensboro, NC, and Dion Torain of the home; one great-niece, Tarlaysia Torain “Toot” of Yanceyville, NC; special nieces and nephews, Taletha Hamlett and Talecia Farrar of Roxboro, NC; Daekwon Hamlett and Justin Farrar of the home; Ja’Quan Farrar of Roxboro, NC; two brothers, Carl Garland (Jackie) of Sandusky, OH, and Wayne Torain of Timberlake, NC; one sister, Maxine Evans of Durham, NC; and one sister-in-law, Blondie Torain of Durham, NC.

She is also survived by two nieces, Jennifer Torain-Jones (William) of Rougemont, NC, and Shirley Torain-Frink (Tony) of Timberlake, NC; eight nephews, Timmy Torain (Antoinette) of Roxboro, NC; Maurice and Chris Garland of Durham, NC; Derrick Torain (Stephanie) of Durham, NC; Demarco (Kathryn), Demarcus, and Demario Garland of Hopkinsville, KY; and Dwayne Torain of Baltimore, MD. She also leaves two uncles, Wilbur Torain and Michael Torain, and two aunts, Carolyn Torain and Maxine Torain, all of Beckley, WV; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday, December 12, 2025, at Alan L. Lawson Mortuary, 209 Chub Lake St., Roxboro, NC, from 1:00 pm to 6:00 pm. The family will be present from 5:00 pm to 6:00 pm.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 13, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Olive Hill Baptist Church, 643 Olive Hill Church Rd., Leasburg, NC.
Minister Connie Dickens-McCain of First Baptist Church, Roxboro, NC, will officiate, and Reverend Diane Farrish, Pastor of Olive Hill Baptist Church, will deliver the eulogy. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

At other times, the family will receive visitors at the home of her brother, Wayne Torain, 63 Crystal Ridge Dr., Timberlake, NC 27583.
