Luada Ramsey Allen

Mrs. Luada Ramsey Allen, age ninety-two, departed this life and entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at her home in Timberlake, North Carolina surrounded by her children and grandchildren. She was born in Person County on June 19, 1932, to the late Tom Ramsey and Madie B. Royster. She was raised by the late Ollie and Annie Lawson from the adorable age of 8 months.

Luada was a dedicated member of the Greater Cleggs Chapel Community Missionary Baptist Church until her health declined. She was a member of the Mixed Choir, as well as, the Missionary Circle. She was a recipient of the Greater Cleggs Chapel Mother of the Year Award.

Luada retired from Crown Crafts, Inc. after being employed for over 30 years. Her biggest joy was picking turnip and collard greens, as well as, many other vegetables. For someone that never learned how to drive, Mama Lou, as she was known, could get anywhere in the world. Her favorite saying was “I’m not letting any grass grow under my feet”, and she didn’t allow any grass to grow. She also enjoyed talking on the phone to her cousins and friends but especially with her best friend, Margaret Findley at least four times a day.

Mama Lou was blessed and happy when she met and married the love of her life, Roscoe “Coe” Allen. They were able to spend 50 wonderful years together before he entered eternal rest. To this beautiful love six children were born.  

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two children, Reverend Desadee Allen and Madie Nadine Allen; siblings, Ollie "Pig", James "Preach", Henry "Spence", Albert, and Matthew "Bob" Lawson, Virgie Harris, Mary Toler, Laura Ray Allen, Margaret Wright- Eutsy, and stepmom, Mary Ellen Ramsey.

Luada leaves to cherish her beautiful memories, her children, Sarah A. Pulliam and Russell Allen of the home, Dianette "Tiny" Williams, and Christine Jackson (Anthony) of Roxboro NC; one very special god son, James Fuller of Burlington, NC, and two special goddaughters, Marilyn Hicks and Sue Sherman of Hurdle Mills, NC; her precious grandchildren, Maceo Pettiford, Shontilia Guy of Charlotte NC, whom she raised as her very own; Alisia "Sophie" Williams, Robert "Man" Williams (Christina), Desi Allen, Stephanie Blackwell, Patrick McCoy, Boyce, Bryan and Benita Brooks; twenty great grandchildren, and Jevon Williams of Cary NC, whom she also raised as her very own, and fourteen great-great grandchildren; a daughter-in-law Sherry Allen of Roxboro, NC; one sister, Norma Jean Pettiford of Roxboro, NC; one sister-in-law, Ernestine "Tina" Richmond of Roxboro, NC, and one brother-in-law, Leamon Allen, Jr. (Linda) of Timberlake, NC; a very special niece, Marguerite Wright of Roxboro, NC, and two special nephews, Jim Hester (Janice) of Rougemont, NC, and Otis T. Lawson (Janice) of Raleigh, NC, whom she also helped raised, and a bonus grandson, whom she affectionately called “Baby Charles” Findley; her loving Henderson children, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Public Viewing will be held Friday, December 27, 2024 from 1:00 – 4:00pm at the Alan L. Lawson Mortuary Chapel 209 Chub Lake St. Roxboro, North Carolina 27573. Visitation will also be held Friday, December 27, 2024 from 5:00 – 7:00pm at the Greater Cleggs Chapel Community Missionary Baptist Church, 2601 Surl Mount Tirzah Rd, Timberlake, NC 27583.

The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Greater Cleggs Chapel Community Missionary Baptist Church with the body lying in state one hour prior to the service. Eulogist is Rev. Louis E. Cash, Pastor of the Greater Cleggs Chapel Community Missionary Baptist Church.
