Garry Mack Arthur Stewart, 62 of Durham, North Carolina, passed away peacefully at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham, North Carolina on Saturday, August 5, 2023, after a long battle with congestive heart failure.
Garry was born in Roxboro on June 18, 1961 to the union of the late Paige and Queen Barnette Stewart. Garry attended public schools in Person County and was a graduate of Person Senior High School class of 1980. He began his career as a Physical Therapist Assistant at Duke Regional Hospital.
He was a devoted member at Shady Hill Baptist Church for many of years where he served as an Usher, on the Trustee Board, member of the Pastor’s Aid, and Church Security. Garry was also a member of the Sertoma Club.
He leaves to cherish his memories: a son, Gary Goods, and a daughter, Yosheka Stewart both of Roxboro, North Carolina. Four siblings: Brenda Stewart (Maurice), Reginald Stewart, Linda Brown (Darryl) and Samuel Stewart. Two grandchildren: Aubree Stewart and Ahmeir Stewart. A special friend, Annie Brodie and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be a public viewing Thursday, August 10, 2023, 11:00 am until 3:00 pm at the Alan Lawson Mortuary Chapel. The funeral service will begin at 3:00 pm. The service officiant will be Reverend Dr. Eddie A. Fuller, Sr., Pastor of Shady Hill Baptist Church and eulogist will be Elder Henry Patterson, Associate Pastor of Full Gospel Deliverance Center in Durham, North Carolina.
