Mr. Eugene Kittrell Green, 91 a native of Person County, born to the union of late Manson and Odelia Williams Green on April 20,1931. Eugene departed this life on Tuesday, December 20, 2022, at Hillcrest Convalescent Center in Durham, North Carolina.
Eugene often referred to as “Kittrell” accepted Christ at an early age. He was a member of Vernon Hill Baptist Church. He attended Person County Schools. He was an employee of Roxboro Cotton Mill until he moved to Spring Valley, New York, where he became a long-time dedicated employee of Rockland Psychiatric Center in Orangeburg, New York, retiring after 35 years of service. He loved to fish, hunt and watch Jeopardy, the News and Westerns. He also loved to cook sweet potato pies, banana pudding and make peach and pear preserves for his grands.
In addition to his parents, Kittrell was preceded in death by his lifetime wife, Dorothy Smith Green; siblings, Addie Mae Stephens, Massielonia, Donald, Ulysseus, Bernard and Lee Romie Green.
He leaves to cherish his memories, three children: Kathryn Chavous-Street (Basil), Ricardo Green (Celeste) and Oral D. Green; a father figure to Stephen Jones; three brothers: Joe Louis (Barbara), Herman and Bryce Green (Gwendolyn). Seven grandchildren: Jerika Jones (Kelvin), Desma Bumpass (Darry), Ricardo Green II, Elisa Chavous, Terrence Chavous, Erika Green and Todd Green. Sixteen great grandchildren and six great- great grandchildren. A special friend, Darrell Ray Street, a special nephew, Otis Lawson and a host of other relatives and friends. All other times the family will be at 1007 Chub Lake Road, Roxboro, North Carolina 27573.
