Ms. Berthine Lawson, 69, a native of Roxboro, North Carolina, transitioned on Tuesday evening, September 23, 2025, at Yanceyville Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center. She was born December 19, 1955, to the late Foyster Lawson and Dorothy Webb Lawson.
Berthine confessed faith in Christ at an early age and joined Hester Grove Baptist Church, where she served on the Usher Board until her health declined. She attended Person County Public Schools and was employed as a Medical Science Technician in Durham, NC, until her health no longer permitted her to work.
She leaves to cherish her memory: five brothers, James Lawson of Roxboro, Earl Lawson (Earlie) of Hurdle Mills, Bobby Edwards (Sylvia), Rodney Edwards of Roxboro, and Kevin Edwards (Tynita) of Durham; three sisters, Mary Lois Portee of New York, Doris Villines of Roxboro, and Brenda Lawson of Hurdle Mills; along with a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Funeral Arrangements
Public Viewing: Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 1:00–6:00 p.m. at Alan L. Lawson Mortuary Chapel, 209 Chub Lake Street, Roxboro, NC. Family will be present from 5:00–6:00 p.m.
Funeral Service: Sunday, September 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Hester Grove Baptist Church, 590 Wheelers Church Road, Hurdle Mills, NC 27574. Eulogist: Rev. Mark Webb, Pastor of White Oak Grove Baptist Church, Cedar Grove, NC.
Burial: Following the service in the church cemetery.
