Barbara Eloise Mitchell

Ms. Barbara Eloise Mitchell, aged 60, departed this life and entered eternal rest, Sunday, February 16, 2025, at Duke Regional Hospital, Durham, North Carolina. She was born on February 21, 1964, in Person County to the late Charlie C. Mitchell and Carrie Pulliam Mitchell. Barbara was a member of Mill Hill Missionary Baptist Church.

A 1982 graduate of Person High School, Barbara continued her education at North Carolina Central University, where she graduated magna cum laude in 1986. She worked for several years in youth mental health services before retiring from Durham County Government. Barbara found great comfort in her love of God, her family, and her love of learning.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bertha M. Price, Alice M. Davis, and Carolyn Mitchell, and her brothers, Louteneal Mitchell and Charles V. Mitchell.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sisters: Jannie M. Lipscomb of the home; Bessie Goodson (Nathaniel, Jr.) of Timberlake, North Carolina; Lorine M. Churchman of Leesport, Pennsylvania; Georgette Mitchell of Roxboro, North Carolina; Sherra M. Blackwell of Wake County, North Carolina; and one brother, Clifton Mitchell of Durham, North Carolina. She is also survived by two aunts, Jennie Billups of Reading, Pennsylvania, and Nannie Pulliam of Roxboro, North Carolina; along with numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

Barbara was also dearly loved by her bonus family, the children and descendants of the late Walter and Foriseteen McGhee.

Visistation will be Saturday, February 22, 2025 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Mill Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1635 Mill Hill Road Roxboro, NC 27574.

The funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, at 1:00 PM at the Mill Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 1635 Mill Hill Road Roxboro, NC 27574. Rev. Frederick Wilson, Pastor, providing the eulogy. Rev. Danielle Stone, officiant.

At other times, the family will receive visitors at 160 Moonlight Lane, Timberlake, NC 27583.
