On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Lord sent an angel to the home of Arthur Lee Torain to escort him to Glory. Arthur was born June 11, 1952 to David Torian, who survives and the late Elsie Taborn Torian.
In addition to his mother, his sister, Vida Lorena Farmer, his mother-in-law, Edith Thompson, and his goddaughter, Victoria Jalissa Bradsher-Daniel, preceded him in death.
Arthur attended Person County Schools and graduated from Person Senior High School. At very young age, he joined Lattisville Grove Missionary Baptist Church. He was a very active and faithful member until his health declined. He served in many capacities in the church. He especially enjoyed driving the church van and most of all singing in the various choirs. Arthur carried a song in his heart and a smile on his face.
He was employed in manufacturing for many years, but his most enjoyable position came when he joined the staff of Oak Lane Elementary. He did so much more than the custodial upkeep of the school. He provided guidance and leadership to the students he encountered and encouraged them to always put their best foot forward. He loved them and they loved him. Arthur retired from Person County Schools in 2017 after 17 years of service.
He leaves to cherish his memories: his wife, Lisa B. Torain, six children, Austin Torain, Autum T. Davis (Joshua), Arthur Kelly Torain (Kisha), Laquawanda Thomas (Frederick), Corey Mangum and Roger Bouie. Siblings, Gloria Jean Oldham (Aaron), Joyce Miller (Dennis), Shirley Cowart, Joseph Torain, and Thomas Torain (Trina). Aunts and Uncles: Annie Jane Norwood, Roger Torain, Lois Torain, Mable Farrish, Lee Artis Taborn. Twelve grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. In-laws: Brenda Wade (Reginald), Annie Welburn (Donald), Jackie Evans, Darrell Thompson, and Carl Blackwell. Special extended family, Carl and Judy Bradsher, Ann Snipes, Frank Lester, Kendrick A.Thorpe and goddaughter, Carla Bradsher Waddell (Colby) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
