Anita Meeks Obituary

Ms. Anita L. Warren-Meeks of Leasburg, North Carolina, made a peacefully, eternal transition on Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

Anita was born and raised in Roxboro, North Carolina to the late John Jasper Warren and Bertha Brown Warren. She loved to work! Anita worked for CIC Incorporated (pinball machines, pool tables, etc.), Eastern Airlines, Delta Airlines, and Person County Group Homes. She was also a member of Elijah Grove Missionary Baptist Church and served as a member of the Usher Board.

Anita lived a life filled with joy, connection, and compassion. She had a love for bowling, and anyone who knew her could see the happiness it brought her, especially the time spent in fellowship with those she cared about. Family was the center of Anita’s world, and she cherished every moment shared with her loved ones. Her heart for caregiving was one of her greatest gifts.

In addition to her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Meeks; her brothers, John Robert Warren and Sherman Comer; her sister, Lois Warren Woods; her niece, MaShonda Warren; and her nephews, Tracy Warren and John Warren.

Anita leaves behind loved ones who will forever cherish her memory:  her children, Bootsy Meeks, Franklin Warren (Claudette), and Anthony Warren (Lacy); her grandchildren, Kawana Woods (Herbie), Acquanetta Warren, Franklin Warren, Jr., Whitney Warren, and Destini Warren; her great-grandchildren, Elijah Warren, Damouri Woods, Azaria Woods, La’Veah Warren, Jayden Woods, Zamora Warren, Cameron Cooper, and Jovie Grady; her great-great grandchildren, Ashton Brown and Ma’Lani Woods; her brothers, Clarence Warren, Timothy Warren, John Warren, Warrant Warren (Anabel), Carlton Warren (Melissa), and Christopher Warren; her sisters, Bernice Barzilay and Leslie Warren; her aunt, Vearl Ellis; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

Anita had a rare and beautiful passion for people. Caring for others was not just something she did—it was who she was. Whether offering a comforting word, lending a helping hand, or simply showing up with her gentle presence, Anita poured love into everyone around her. Her gift of caregiving touched countless lives, and her compassion created a sense of warmth and safety wherever she went. Though her passing leaves a deep and undeniable void in the hearts of those who knew her, the light she carried will never fade. Anita was a shining presence steady, kind, and full of love. Her light and legacy will continue to live on through the memories, stories, and lives she so deeply touched.
