Ms. Alean A. Jordan, a native of Roxboro, NC, transitioned from her earthly life on Friday, January 24, 2025, at the Duke Medical Pavilion in Durham NC.
Alean was born January 29, 1951, to the union of Henrietta Royster Jordan and Willie Melvin Jordan. She attended and graduated Person County School, Class of 1969, and continued her education, graduating Elizabeth City State University and, also receiving her Master’s degree in Education from the University of Virginia in 1979. She was a member of Shady Hill Baptist Church, attending faithfully until her health declined.
During her years of employment, Alean was a teacher with the Halifax County VA School system for 30 years before retiring and starting a second teaching career in Person County NC in 2003. She enjoyed good food, good music and entertaining; hosting family and friends at her home frequently. Alean was a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and Eastern Star.
She is preceded in death by her mother and father, sisters-Mary Elizabeth Jordan and Pattie J. Tapp, brother-Archie Brice Jordan, nephews-Clarence Jay Jordan, Shaun M. Jordan and Karlos R. Tapp and lifetime partner, Delaine Pierce.
She leaves to cherish her memory: one brother, William M. Jordan (Brenda) of Roxboro NC, nieces Marcy Jordan Montoya (Daniel) of the home, Danielle Jordan of the home, Felice Jordan of Roxboro NC, Shanon Ramsey (Ralph) of Roxboro NC, Donna Jordan (Shaunta) of Durham NC and Keisha R. Tapp of Roxboro NC. Two nephews, Kurt Jordan (Christi) of Durham NC, and Doug Jordan. A great-nephew, Trevon Tapp, great-niece, Kameryn Tapp and a host of loving cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held at Alan L. Lawson Mortuary Chapel -209 Chub Lake St. Roxboro, NC on Wednesday, January 29, 2025 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Family will be present from 5:00 – 6:00pm.
The funeral service will be held Thursday, January 30, 2025 at 1:00pm at Shady Hill Missionary Baptist Church 1500 Old Durham Rd. Roxboro, NC. The Rev. Eddie A. Fuller, Sr., Pastor of Shady Hill Missionary Baptist Church, officiant and Rev. Dr. James A. Richmond, Pastor Emeritus of Shady Hill Missionary Baptist Church, eulogist.
