Ms. Aldene Morton Burton, 89, a native of Roxboro, North Carolina, was received by a heavenly angel on Friday evening, July 14, 2023, surrounded by family.
Aldene was born on March 17, 1934, to the union of the late Eula Villines Morton and James (Jim) Morton.
Aldene was accustomed to challenging work from her experiences in farming, Collins & Aikman, and Woodland Elementary. She enjoyed cooking, baking, hosting gatherings, shopping, driving, and spending time with her great-granddaughter.
In addition to her parents, Aldene was preceded in death by her husband, Mack Burton Jr., her brother, James Herbert Morton Jr., and her sisters, Annie Mildred Bradsher and Mary Villines.
She leaves to cherish her memory, a son, Mack Burton (Adrienne); granddaughter, Melissa Burton (Karlos); great-granddaughter, Kalila Blue; two sisters, Arcelia Smith and Beatrice Morton as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
Public Viewing will be held on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Alan L. Lawson Mortuary Chapel from 1:00 pm until 6:00 pm.
The funeral service will be held at 12:00noon on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at Hester Grove Baptist Church, 590 Wheelers Church Rd, Hurdle Mills, NC 27541
Eulogy by Pastor Tony Johnson. Ms. Burton will lie in repose one-half hour before service.
Her final resting place will be beside her husband at the Bass, Burton, and Cozart Family Cemetery in Rougemont, NC.
